With heavy hearts and after careful consideration, we have made the tough decision to cancel the 2020 We Create luxury crop.
It is vitally important to us that we deliver you the highest quality and most memorable experience imaginable, and unfortunately that just isn’t possible this year. It wasn’t something we decided overnight. We were hopeful and positive in the beginning, but as time has gone on we have gradually come to the realization that the situation is not going to resolve itself quickly enough for the event to take place.
We know you are disappointed, and we know that for many of you, having We Create to look forward to in the fall has been something good in your life during this stressful time. We are disappointed, too. We spend all year working endlessly so we may all experience and enjoy one magical weekend of camaraderie and scrapbooking bliss. We Create is truly a labor of love. We always expect the unexpected, but we never imagined we’d be standing at the crossroads we find ourselves at today.
Due to the current world health crisis and the way it impacts our community, we simply cannot plan an event that would not only meet our standards but would also give you the top-of-the-line event you paid for.
Springfield-Greene County, Missouri Health Department has classified We Create as an “Enhanced Risk Activity.” Now until June 1, ERA events can be held, but the maximum number of people who can attend is only 25. Looking ahead, we don’t see that number increasing to 300 by September. We can’t take the risk of telling you the event will go on as planned, and then in August, find out that we are prohibited from hosting it because of numbers.
In addition, ERA events must practice social distancing in all aspects, including seating and activities. Chances are, we would not be able to provide cropping places for everyone under those guidelines. Even now, we know we would not be able to have the Allison Davis classes, the product demos, the photo booth areas, the massages, or the buffets. Most of the features that make We Create so special are prohibited.
And even if the numbers of people allowed to attend "Enhanced Risk Activities" increases enough by the time We Create is set to take place, we are concerned that COVID-19 could still pose a threat no matter the precautions we take or the safety measures we implement, and we just aren't comfortable taking that kind of risk.
Thankfully, we are a tough and resilient bunch here at SG. Adversities only serve to unite us and make us stronger. We Create WILL return September 10-12, 2021. In the meantime, we will continue our passion for bringing everyone together through the love of scrapbooking and community by hosting smaller online events throughout the coming year. Let’s push forward together, positively, while we plan to celebrate our love of scrapbooking again soon.
